In brief
Holmes drew on Emerson, Troward, Christian Science, and Eastern philosophy to build a complete system he called Religious Science. He published The Science of Mind in 1926 and founded the Institute of Religious Science a year later. Today Centers for Spiritual Living carry the teaching forward.
The book is long and thorough. Its practical heart is “spiritual mind treatment,” a structured form of affirmative prayer used for healing, prosperity, and peace. The 1926 first edition is in the public domain in the United States; the revised 1938 edition sold today is a different text.
Key ideas
- There is one Mind, and every person uses it.
- Thought acts through a law that responds to belief.
- Spiritual mind treatment is affirmative prayer with a clear structure.
- Healing and prosperity are applications of the same principle.
Who it’s for
Read it once you know the earlier writers and want the full synthesis. It ends our “mind and healing” path.
